Where does one begin when it comes to deciding which New York City attractions to see first? Of course there are the popular tourist destinations, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Plaza, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. However, there are also a host of other famous sights to see–it would be nearly impossible to see them all in one short visit. For this reason, thousands of people make return visits to the Big Apple every year, to see what they missed the first time around.

If you love to shop (who doesn't?), then you will love all that New York City has to offer. There are of course the well-known upscale stores like Barney's and Saks, but there are also numerous little boutiques around town that are worth checking out during your stay. If you love one-of-a-kind perfumes, candles, and jewelry, then it would definitely be worth your while to duck into some of these nameless boutiques. Sometimes the best buys come from little shops that no one has ever heard of before. . .until now.

Likewise, when it comes to dining, you can go all-out in Manhattan. There are five star restaurants galore, but sometimes the best-kept secrets are the little holes in the wall that serve up some scrumptious food. From Indian to Chinese to Thai to Italian, you can find virtually every kind of ethnic restaurant you could want in Manhattan. You may want to take in a guided horse-drawn carriage ride through the streets of the city, or perhaps hop on the Staten Island Ferry for an amazing view of the harbor.

New York also has numerous art galleries, museums, and theaters, so you can definitely get out of the cold for some indoor entertainment. When walking through the city, keep in mind that you must always practice safety so you do not become a victim of crime. It is wise to keep wallets in front pockets, and purses should be worn across the body to deter would-be thieves. New York is a fabulous city to visit, but as with any large metropolitan area, unsuspecting tourists can become targets of petty crime. Have fun but be cautious, as this will allow you to truly enjoy all that the city has to offer.
